VOCAL Inspires Our Community to Improve Animal Welfare in Ocala!

Over the past several years, Ocala Horse Properties has supported VOCAL (Voices of Change Animal League) because of their wonderful efforts towards animal welfare in our region. We are in awe of our community members who have stepped up by volunteering time and financial resources to make such a difference in the lives of cats and dogs in Marion County.

Vocal’s efforts are non-stop! Through their steadfast commitment to raising awareness of their program, they have formed a group of dedicated and energetic volunteers. Shelter Buddy Program Provides Joy for Animals and Humans

As the old saying goes, ‘cold nose, warm heart’!  A warm heart is exactly the emotion that you’ll experience by joining the Shelter Buddy Program. This fantastic concept pairs a volunteer with a shelter dog that needs love an affection until an adopted home is found. What a great way to volunteer some spare time to care for an animal that will return the love exponentially.

A description of the program concept from VOCAL’S Spring Newsletter is below:

“By pairing a volunteer with one dog specifically, it allows them to focus on what that animal needs and relieve the stress of being sheltered. Our shelter buddies don’t take their responsibilities lightly: they comfort, bond and motivate our shelter dogs. While not everyone can foster, being a shelter buddy is the next best thing for our animals. Our volunteers also really enjoy the companionship and bond they form with their paired dog. We are always looking for more volunteers to join us as a shelter buddy. Click here on VOCAL’s website to apply.”

April 20th Is the 4th Annual Bark Sale Yard Sale

This is another great concept – an annual yard sale for a cause! Come out and enjoy some animal lover camaraderie at this community event that features a bake sale, shopping and of course the opportunity to meet some of the VOCAL animals. It’s this Saturday, April 20th in the morning, and they are still welcoming donations for the event.

As always, please consider volunteering, fostering or joining a fundraising committee at vocalforpets.org They have also taken the time to break down specific fundraising goals on their website, and every donation counts. So don’t hesitate to give a small amount, because every little gift helps offset costs for caring for our region’s animals.
